LV-5000 is designed as a high performance access control system for such applicatons as time & attendance, membership management, etc.

The sensor captures fingerprints regardless of environmental and genetic factors.

Multispectral Image Sensor?

Multispectral image sensor captures both the outer and inner skin regardless of genetic, dry, contaminated and even environmental factors.

The transformation of Keico Hightech is eye-catching.  The Keico Hightech¡¯s newly released LV-5000 is at the center of the change.  Employing a multi-spectral image sensor, which might be slightly unfamiliar to you, the fingerprint recognition access control device attracts the full attention to the Korea¡¯s biometrics market.  LV-5000 is designed as a high performance access control system for such applications as time & attendance, membership management, etc.  The sensor captures fingerprints regardless of environmental and genetic factors.  SecurityWorld INT¡¯L has met with Moon-Sung Hwang, CEO of Keico Hightech, who, in this interview, talks about his view on the biometric recognition market.

¡°We can¡¯t succeed without customers¡¯ understanding."

Keico Hightech seems to focus on fingerprint recognition. Does it mean that your company gives up speed gate and time & attendance product lines?

We focus our investment capability on the fingerprint sector, which does not mean that we discontinue manufacturing other product lines.  Keico Hightech (www.keico.co.kr) is a professional provider of access control systems, always ready to adopt new technologies related to access control systems.  In this regards, we just concentrate more on the fingerprint recognigtion than others without special meanings.

You have newly introduced an unfamiliar finger authentication method that can recognize patterns in the dermis, below the surface of the skin.  How will you explain it to end users?

A. We can¡¯t succeed without customers¡¯ understanding, no matter how outstanding our technologies and products are.  So the effective PR for this new product is more important than anything else.  We plan to introduce the product through meeting buyers in overseas and domestic exhibitions, and make customers favorable to the product via various advertisements.

We have already a rush of inquiries from other companies and the inquiries are leading to the actual contracts.  The new product has been successful so far judging by its current favorable responses.

What do you think of the wide-spread understanding that the biometric recognition market is still immature?

I agree with it.  However, I think the immature market has far more advantages than disadvantages.   It means that the market has a number of possibilities to be commercialized.  And we hope to take a large share in the market.
