Verint Systems Inc., announced it has surpassed 400 patents and patent applications worldwide, the majority of which are issued or filed with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. These patents significantly strengthen the company¡¯s patent portfolio and underpin Verint¡¯s position as the leader in enterprise workforce optimization and security intelligence.
The Verint¢ç patent portfolio features technologies that are delivered in its Impact 360¢ç workforce optimization software, Nextiva¢â IP video solutions and communication interception technology offerings, and provides new innovations in actionable intelligence for contact center, branch banking, back office, public safety, critical infrastructure, service provider and government customers.
¡°Verint is a leading provider of actionable intelligence solutions. Behind our market leadership is a history of innovation and a commitment to protecting that innovation through patents. The 400th patent mark signifies our ongoing efforts to build a high-quality, pioneering and industry-defining portfolio,¡± said Dan Bodner, CEO and President of Verint Systems. ¡°We believe that our commitment to innovation and our strong patent portfolio provides significant advantages for our customers and partners and provides us with an important competitive edge.¡±
The Verint patent portfolio demonstrates the forward-thinking culture at Verint and is key to the company¡¯s winning strategy. "It is easy to recognize that a patent application should be filed for an exciting new product. But Verint has taken this one step further and has developed a systematic intellectual property program and the organizational infrastructure for proactively creating patent portfolios. Protecting and maximizing our intellectual property by continuously expanding our patent portfolio benefits all our stakeholders," said Bodner.
The scale and diversity of the Verint patent portfolio safeguards the company¡¯s innovations and evidences thought leadership in each of its markets. For example, a recent filing leading up to the 400th milestone includes a video analytics patent application relating to people counting. More specifically, the application, entitled ¡°Systems and Methods for Counting People Based on Head Trajectories,¡± discloses methods and systems for counting people in video images based on trajectories generated by the movement of head shapes. By counting people entering and leaving the physical area in such a fashion, a running count may be maintained of the number of people currently located within the physical area. This innovation is one of many examples where Verint has formalized, captured and leveraged intellectual capital to produce higher‑value assets and patents.
