North American names new facility and director in Macau

North American Video, a security systems integrator and a premier provider to the gaming industry, announced that it is adding a fully-functional demonstration and training facility to its recently opened Asia Pacific office located in Macau, China (SAR). NAV has appointed Michael Katris, an experienced security industry professional, as the Managing Director. Michael will spend the majority of his time in Macau, concentrating on the local market in addition to looking into opportunities in the surrounding regions.

Macau represents a tremendous growth opportunity for North American Video,” said Cynthia Freschi, President of North American Video. “We established operations in Macau while implementing the integrated video and security system for Wynn Design & Development and our business in the region has continued to grow since. This new demonstration and training facility provides us with the ability to let new and existing customers actually operate the latest systems technologies in simulated configurations that most closely model their needs. It also provides us with a location to train our customers’ security personnel while their actual systems are still being installed, which makes the training process even more efficient.”

Macaus economy is based largely on tourism, including gambling, and textile and garment manufacturing. Recent reports indicate that Macau’s annual revenues from gaming have already exceeded those of Las Vegas.  The clothing industry has provided about three-fourths of export earnings, and it is estimated that the gambling industry contributed more than 50% of GDP in 2005. The opening of the gambling sector in 2002 has led to significant investments in casinos, hotels, and related facilities by some of the world’s most notable companies. As a result, more than 22 million tourists visited Macau in 2006 with figures expected to rise in coming years.
