Raytheon awarded initial installment on US$38 million navy communications contract

Raytheon Company has been awarded an initial installment of US$27 million for satellite communications (SATCOM) terminals in support of a Space and Naval Warfare Systems contract potentially worth US$38 million.

Under the firm-fixed-price contract, Raytheon Network Centric Systems will deliver nine extremely high frequency follow-on terminals to the U.S. Navy. These terminals are a vital element in the Navys SATCOM program and precede the Navy Multiband Terminal, or NMT, awarded to Raytheon last month.

"This award, along with our recent NMT win, recognizes the depth of Raytheons SATCOM expertise," said Jerry Powlen, vice president, Network Centric Systems Integrated Communications Systems. "We continue to improve the reliability and performance of our SATCOM systems while delivering new and innovative solutions across the fleet."

Raytheon will continue to provide Mission Support services as part of an existing Navy SATCOM engineering services contract.

Raytheon Company, with 2006 sales of $20.3 billion, is a technology leader specializing in defense, homeland security and other government markets throughout the world. With a history of innovation spanning 85 years, Raytheon provides state-of-the art electronics, mission systems integration and other capabilities in the areas of sensing; effects; and command and control, communications and intelligence systems, as well as a broad range of mission support services. With headquarters in Waltham, Mass., Raytheon employs 73,000 people worldwide.
